Voice over IP
AARNet has been supporting the Australian Research & Education
community for more than ten years in the area of Voice over IP (VoIP). The AARNet network provides a VoIP on.net only service.
Current Status
As of March 2009, AARNet has
created a new Gatekeeper service, connections to the original
gatekeeper will soon cease. More details are available here.
Since December 2008 only “on net” calls and access to Gatekeeper services will be supported, while “hop off” or “toll bypass” calls are no longer routed. Calls to our teleconferencing bridge will still be accessible via IP (via our Gatekeeper service).
