AARNet is pleased to announce that we are in the first cohort of organisations from around the world selected by Amazon Web Services (AWS) as an AWS Direct Connect Service Delivery Partner.
AWS Direct Connect gives AARNet customers the ability to create private network connections between a data centre, campus, or co-location environment and AWS to reduce networking costs, increase throughput, and deliver a consistent high quality experience to users.
For AARNet customers, this means AWS Direct Connect services can now be ordered on AARNet’s 10 Gigabit per second (Gbps) Partner Interconnect ports. These are called Hosted Connections. Hosted Connection services from 50Mbps up to 10Gbps are now supported by AARNet and can be ordered. Online ordering, via your Customer Dashboard, will be available from July. Dedicated Connections (via 1 or 10Gbps ports) are still available and may suit some customers best. Hosted Virtual Interfaces are no longer supported by AWS due to contention risks and will gradually be phased-out.
As an AWS Direct Connect Service Delivery Partner, AARNet is one of a cohort of organisations exclusively authorised to provision the new AWS Direct Connect Hosted Connections capacities greater than 500 Mbps. Partners undergo service-specific validation of their technical capabilities and are approved to provide higher capacity Hosted Connections. To ensure a reliable high quality experience the network link between the partner and AWS is continuously monitored.
