Professor Emeritus Ian O’Connor AC held the post of Vice-Chancellor and President of Griffith University from 2005 to 2018. He is currently Chair of the Queensland Art Gallery Board of Trustees, a position he has held since March 2017.

Professor O'Connor has served as a consultant to, or as a member of, various Government and non-Government bodies including as Chair of the Higher Education Standards Panel from 2018 to 2021.

Professor O'Connor completed the degrees of Bachelor of Social Work and Doctor of Philosophy from The University of Queensland.
