Matthew Barry is Director of Global Technology Services at RMIT.

Matthew is an accomplished IT executive specialising in research and education technology infrastructure. Holding a double masters in Digital Business Management and MBA (Executive) from Swinburne, he combines deep technical expertise with strategic business acumen.

As Director of Global Technology Services at RMIT, Matthew is leading a comprehensive network transformation program and driving their cloud evolution, enhancing cybersecurity and research capabilities both inside RMIT and across the sector. Career highlights include implementing ISO27001-certified cloud platforms and modernising Australia's largest university network at Monash University.

As Deputy Chair of the Victorian University Directors of IT (VDIT), Matthew plays a key role in fostering collaboration and promoting excellence in ICT service delivery across Victorian and Tasmanian universities.

Matthew brings a wealth of knowledge in optimising large-scale technology environments and collaborating with diverse stakeholders. He is passionate about harnessing technology to advance academic and research outcomes, aligned with AARNet's mission to benefit the Australian research and education sector.
