Meet Joao

Joao is one of our Security Automation engineers and his speciality is automating playbooks for the AARNet Security Operations Centre (SOC).

Joao's work helps our SOC Analysts respond to ever-changing cyber security threats in a fast and smart way.

For Joao, AARNet’s mission to protect the research and education sector of Australia makes his work very satisfying. He also enjoys the trust and autonomy he is given in his role, and that he can take a creative approach to developing solutions.

Joao describes everyone at AARNet as very smart and good at what they do, which allows him to have robust conversations across all the teams he works with. Coming from a background in consulting, Joao has found the flat hierarchy and flexibility of the AARNet workplace refreshing. He is able to take on more responsibility and while it is a small company, he is supported with the resources he needs to do ‘cool things’.

It’s been great seeing the impact Joao has made on our SOC and his passion for the role.
